Marieke Flament is NEAR’s new and current CEO, effective January 1, 2022.

The appointment comes at an exciting time for the NEAR ecosystem. NEAR is sponsored by top VCs such as A16Z, Pantera Capital, and Electric Capital.

In October 2021, the NEAR ecosystem introduced $800 million in funding tasks focused on accelerating the boom. The statement, which includes the $350 million in funding raised via Proximity Labs, is designed to build momentum in the NEAR ecosystem during the last 12 months. Further, NEAR closed partnerships with Opera and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, began working with crypto payment provider MoonPay to make NEAR accessible in 150 countries, and persisted in participating with NEAR Inc. To release easy Nightshade, the first step towards a fully sharded blockchain.

Flament brings a wealth of global business experience to the function and an in-depth understanding of the world of crypto and fintech. Born in France, Flament is skilled as a computer engineer and has worked across the globe in various agencies, from the large luxury LVMH of Louis Vuitton fame to Boston Consulting Group, Expedia’s hotels.com, and crypto giant Circle, and more currently, Mettle via Natwest.

For the duration of her time at Circle, she handled Director of European operations, where she took to market several merchandises and built a consumer base from 0-2 million in less than two years. Quickly after that, she became the company’s first global CMO, main the branding and rollout of USDC – one of the most successful stablecoins.

After her function at Circle, Flament became the CEO of SME banking app Mettle through Natwest, concentrating on the passion/creator financial system. During her position, she released the app and grew the team from 50 to 250 employees. Mettle has won great customer acclaim (above 4.8 app store rating) and has ended up one of the bank’s biggest product achievement stories.

Flament is obsessed with exploring how technology can be used to change humans’ lives and is an advocate for diversity and inclusion in finance and technology. She was identified in the women in FinTech Powerlist in 2017 and 2019, and she is often quoted by the press, such as The BBC, The Telegraph, Fortune, the Financial Times, Reuters, Forbes, and City A.M..
