Anton Nell is a Software Engineer and Blockchain enthusiast. He was in a Senior Solutions Architect position at Fantom Foundation.

The Fantom Foundation has constructed a new version for achieving a consensus on transactions known as the Lachesis consensus engine (or Lachesis protocol). It uses a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) based on rules to obtain asynchronous Byzantine fault tolerance (aBFT). Lachesis has four key characteristics:

• Asynchronous: contributors have the liberty to process commands at different times;
• Leaderless: No participant performs a “unique” role in block production;
• Byzantine Fault-Tolerant: helps one-third of faulty nodes;
• Close to-instant Finality: Transactions are finished in 1-2 seconds.

The Fantom basis has turned its attention towards DeFi use cases with the assistance of Yearn Finance founder Andre Cronje, who serves as a technical consultant to Fantom. Andre has suggested and helped promote Fantom’s multi-chain efforts, including releasing Fantom’s bridge to Ethereum. The mission is reportedly a collaboration between Cronje and Daniele Sestagalli, the founder of Abracadabra. Cash, Wonderland.Money, Popsicle. Finance and self-leader of the “Frog nation” – a crypto-native movement centered on keeping decentralization in DeFi.

Nell and Cronje left Fantom in Mar 2022 with a mildly to say it as a scandal.

Anton tweeted on 06 March: “Andre and I have decided that we are closing the chapter of contibuting to the defi/crypto space. There are around ~25 apps and services that we are terminating on 03 April 2022. Most notably: yearn.fi, keep3r.network, multichain.xyz, chainlist.org, solidly.exchange, bribe.crv.finance. Unlike previous building in defi sucks rage quits, this is not a knee jerk reaction to the hate received from releasing a project, but a decision that has been coming for a while now. Thanks you to everyone that supported us over the past few years.”

Nell has started a new road in Crypto with the CTO position at OVEX in Apr 2022. OVEX is a Cape Town-based South African digital asset exchange and OTC desk.
